Matthew 8:21 KJV
And another of his disciples said unto him,
Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
Matthew 8:26 KJV
And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye
of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there
was a great calm.
Matthew 8:28 KJV
And when he was come to the other side into the
country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out
of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.
This chapter contains the sketches of three sorts of people that approach the Lord
The fierce
Vs 28
The key to these men is that, though they seemed fierce, they were in
fact in need. Sometimes those we made be most afraid of might be the ones who
are most in need of our ministry.
The fearful
Vs 26
The Lord often places His people in situations that seem impossible.
The fact is that He is capable of blessing through the worst storms of
life.
The “would-be followers”
Vs 21
There are many would-be followers of the Lord but there is always
something they must do first. Though they might sincerely wish to be faithful
to Christ it never happens. Other things always seem to crop up and always seem
to demand attention before they can be faithful. As long as anything can
demand your attention before God you will never be faithful.
