Deuteronomy 33:29 KJV
Happy art thou, O Israel : who is like unto thee, O
people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy
excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt
tread upon their high places.
God says that
those who are like Israel
are a happy and blessed people:
- Who are saved by the
Lord
- Who are helped by His
shield
- Whose sword is God's
excellency
- Their enemies will be
found to be liars
- Their honors will be
trampled by the believers
All of this is
in due time. God is still the sovereign over time and matter and what He has
promised He will perform; only in His good time.
By happy the
passage, I think, means blessed. God's hand is upon them even when they go
through troublesome times. But the Bible says happy and it should be that a
blessed people would express such blessing in their emotional state.
