Acts 13:34 KJV
And as concerning that he raised him up from the
dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give
you the sure mercies of David.
The Word of God, speaking of the resurrection of Jesus, calls it "the
sure mercies of David." God had promised David that one from his seed would sit in the
throne of Israel
forever. The resurrection of Christ is the fulfillment of that promise.
The resurrection of Christ is also the evidence of God's sure mercies to
every believer. God's mercy toward David is no greater than toward any
believer. God's promises to him are no surer.
That God blessed David is indicative of God's blessings upon us.
