Hebrews 5:9 KJV
And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
Now here is a striking thought; Jesus was "made" perfect.
- The One who is without beginning or ending
- The One by whom all things consist
- The One who spake and it was so
The holy, eternal, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent One who became flesh and dwelt among us, was made perfect. Jesus Christ, who is our standard and the measure alongside of which all else is to be compared; the very picture of perfection. He who was never made was made perfect.
Robert Hawker writes, "...we must, of course, accept the terms, as referring wholly to his character of Mediator. The perfection of the Godhead can never be said to be made."
Perfection submitted itself to being made perfect for the sake of the souls of men. He who knew no sin became sin for us "that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him."
- What grace!
- What condescension!
- What love!
