Come and See

Revelation 6:1
And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.

Revelation 6:3
And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.

Revelation 6:5
And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.

Revelation 6:7
And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.

Four times in the Revelation we find the same phrase (and another three times in John's Gospel), "Come and see."
John 1:39
He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.

John 1:46
And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

John 11:34
And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.

Of course, when we read these passages in the Revelation, we see that they speak of difficult things. Still they point out an important Christian concept, that of action and awareness.

Go to the Old Testament and see illustrations of God’s hand in the lives of men and women.
We may learn from both their positive and negative relationships with the Lord.

Go to the Gospels and see the perfect and sinless life of Jesus Christ.
Look upon the One who came from heaven, sought lost souls and then, died, was buried and rose again for our salvation. Go to Jesus Christ yourself. Repent of your sins, claim the Gospel for yourself and call upon Him to save you

Go to the Revelation and see that God is not yet done with mankind.

Though the days ahead may appear to be dark, our future is far from hopeless. God is still on the throne. When all is said and done an eternity without sin, without sorrow, without sickness tears of death awaits those who have received salvation through Jesus Christ.
