Romans 11:15 (KJV)
For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?

I was recently asked to explain where the nation of Israel is in God’s plan today, and to describe what is that nation of Israel. This is my understanding of God’s Word on the subject:
God made promises to the nation of Israel that are unconditional and will be fulfilled in the Millennial Kingdom. However passages such as 1 Corinthians 10 and Hebrews 2 point out that not all who are born Jews are of Israel. Individual Jews who had not bought into God’s plan for Israel were not included in God’s promise for Israel.
God has set aside Israel in this era to focus on Christ’s churchThe word our text uses is cast away. While I am convinced Christians should support Israel, it is not because that’s where God’s heart is today. Individual Jews can enter into God’s plan and heart in this hour just as anyone else can, by calling on Christ for salvation and uniting with a New Testament Baptist Church. Having done so their Jewish heritage becomes as insignificant as is my American Indian heritage; it is interesting but it has no spiritual meaning. My heritage, as is true of every Christian, is in Christ alone.
God will once again point His focus on Israel as a nation during the Tribulation. This is also known in the Bible as Daniel’s seventieth week. By the end of those seven years the nation of Israel will have turned to Christ and will be prepared to receive God’s promise to Abraham, Jacob and David. This does not mean, however, that everyone born to a Jewish family in the Tribulation will be partaker of the promise but only those who have identified with the direction Israel is moving toward Christ. Individual Jews in rebellion will be dealt with just as any of those Gentiles who are in rebellion to Christ.
