Acts 8:2-4 (KJV)
And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison. Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

This looks like a bad day for Christianity.
- Stephen was dead and buried
- Saul was making havoc of the church and
- Church members were scattering around the world
This looks like a day of mourning. It looks like an excuse to hunker down, dig in and try to recuperate.
That’s not what they did.
They scattered but they scattered with as much or more zeal than they had when they were gathered in Jerusalem. The persecution led them into the highways and byways. It drove them to be witnesses such as they had never been before.
We need that kind of faith today that motivates us not to look at our circumstances with disheartened thoughts but with passion.
