Isaiah 13:19-22 (KJV)
And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’ excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there. But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there. And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

Isaiah 14:6-8 (KJV)
He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth. The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.

Just after September 11, 2001 there was a lot of talk about turning some parts of the Middle East into a “glass parking lot.” Americans were outraged at the attack and vented that outrage toward the Middle East.
- I am glad our country, together with the friends of our country, took action against those who threatened our people
- I am also happy that level heads chose not to turn that part of the world into a desolation
We don’t have to do that. God’s Word tells us that He will do it Himself. He will do it to Babylon, Assyria and Philistia and when He has done it the whole world will have rest and break forth in singing and celebration.
We have a right to and must defend ourselves.
But vengeance belongs solely to God.
