Romans 6:15 (KJV)
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
The term ,God forbid, carries with it emotion and passion. It isn’t merely a factual statement but one with earnest pleading. We all know that the grace of God through Christ has not eradicated the sin nature in us. Now we beg by the grace of God not to tread upon that grace.
- God forbid, expresses our longing for victory over the sin nature
- God forbid, challenges the tendency of license and liberality towards sin
- God forbid, leans upon the only source for mortifying sin in our flesh
This is no small thing. Sin must be attacked. It can never be taken for granted.
Certainly we cannot ignore or blithely tolerate it.
