1 Corinthians 12:13 (KJV)
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
So much of what passes for Christian thinking is based on misinformation and presupposition rather than Bible doctrine.
This passage does not teach the every Christian is baptized into the Spirit at salvation. It teaches that every Christian who is Scripturally baptized is led to do so by the Holy Spirit.
- The Holy Spirit motivates scriptural baptism
- The Holy Spirit is not the mode of Scriptural baptism
Great care has to be taken that we study the Word of God more than merely read it. When we read it without much thought we will invariably read into what we already think we know.
A thoughtful study will likely reveal wonderful truths we never imagined are there.
