1 Corinthians 13:11 (KJV)
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

There comes a point in every boy’s life when he must become a man.
- It may be due to the loss of a parent
- Maybe it will be caused by a traumatic event
- Frequently it happens when an 18 year old boy is handed a weapon, goes through some quick training, and finds himself in combat
Usually mom and sometimes dad wish their son wouldn’t grow up so fast. Like that doting mother who procrastinates her little boy’s first haircut and then saves a lock of his hair because it is so cute, we would just as soon delay our children’s final step into adulthood as long as possible.
But they do have to grow up. And when they do they must put away childish things.
- Irresponsibility
- Foolishness
- Carelessness
among them. It might be some friendships that hinder maturity that needs to be severed. There may be some games and other secular entertainments that must now be shelved. Certainly there are some incredible notions that must be cast off in “mandom.”
There is nothing wrong with being childlike when you are a child. Just remember that one day we all need to grow up and put away those childish things.
