Ezekiel 2:4-5 (KJV)
For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD.And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.

The objective of the preacher is always conversion. We are not, as the politician or the debater, interested in presenting our position for points. We preach praying that our message will convince our audience and effect a change in them.
- We seek to soften the heart
- We seek to move the soul
- We seek to quicken the spirit
But we are aware that it doesn’t happen always or even often. The most effective ministries reach but a tiny fraction of those near them.
So the preacher has, as a second objective; faithfulness to the message. He seeks to be so clear that those who are not convinced are left without excuse.
To bring a compromised message will not gain any more converts. (Though it might, for a time, gain a following.) What a compromised message will do is leave the audience confused as to God’s expectations. Therefore, further into this chapter, God urged the prophet not to be rebellious as the people were rebellious. They needed him to be faithful to the Word even if they would not obey the Word.
