John 3:2 (KJV) Knowing and Still Denying the Truth

John 3:2 (KJV)
The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
Nicodemus said “we know”. There were a number of people who knew Jesus was come from God:
  • Probably members of the Sanhedrin
  • Probably fellow Pharisees
  • Maybe others in Nicodemus’ family
Whether the number incorporated many or few, we do not know. We do know that he came to Jesus alone.
I have always believed that the majority, if not all of mankind, “knows” what the Bible says about Jesus is true. The issue is not with the truth of salvation in Christ. The issue is with the implications of that truth. The issue is with God who chose to save in such a way as He does.
The reason the vast majority refuses to come to Jesus and those of us who do come, come alone, is because the majority want God to bow to them.
They do not want to humble themselves before God.
