Colossians 3:3-4 (KJV)
For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
We, who are Christians, are dead. But we are alive.
We likely do not spend anywhere near enough time contemplating our spiritual death.
Christ is here said to be our life.
- He is the breath of it, the spoken Word that created all things.
- He is the sustainer of it, the one by whom all things consist
- He is the Saviour of it, the Redeemer of our sin
- He is the director of it, the guide from darkness into light
- He is the passion of it, the purpose for which we live
- He is the hope of it, the blessed hope for which we long and with whom we will live eternally
[1] A good meditation on the whole of Romans chapter six would do well to complement this passage. It addresses in detail the implications of both our death with Christ and our life in Christ.
