1 Timothy 2:1-3 (KJV)
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

As I read this I cannot help but return to 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2
Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith

Paul says in 1 Timothy, “First of all …pray” and in 2 Thessalonians, “Finally…pray.”

• Prayer is the first thing 
• Prayer is the last thing and
• Prayer is the best thing 

any Christian may engage in.

Oh, there are many other things that Christians should do. But I am afraid that we have made those things the priorities at the neglect of real, fervent, effectual prayer.
