Hebrews 3:1
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

My first observation is that this chapter is a consideration of Christ, and not of the brethren. Making the Bible about us and not about God does so much damage.

My second observation is that this chapter is written to holy brethren who are partakers of the heavenly calling. The chapter then describes those brethren in a series of “if’s.”

• If we hold fast
• If ye will hear His voice 
• If we hold the beginning of our confidence…

It is not that, “if we do these things” we earn our right to be holy brethren but that, “if we do these things” it proves in fact that we are partakers of the “heavenly calling.”
