Hebrews 5:1 (KJV)
For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:

The passage compares and contrasts the high priestly ministries of the Levitical priesthood and that of Christ. There are differences:

• Christ is eternal High Priest
• Christ need not offer for his own sins and
• Christ offered Himself as sacrifice 

But there are similarities too. Among them:

• He did not call Himself to be High Priest 
• He suffered in this role and
• He was from men, for men pertaining to those things having to do with God
