1 Peter 1:3 (KJV)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

The hope of the Christian is lively. It is a hope that is sure and based upon certain instruments.

Our hope is not wishful. It is absolute because of two principles:

The abundant mercy of GodWhat mercy the Father hath bestowed upon us! He gives grace undeserved and withholds condemnation deserved. He considers us, loves us and concerns Himself with us.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the deadThe resurrection is explained so we have no debate. His was not a spiritual resurrection or an emotional resurrection. His resurrection is not an imagination of the mind or a theoretical resurrection. His was a physical resurrection from the dead.

We have a lively hope because it is a hope based upon the love of God and death, burial and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ.
