Matthew 13:10-12 (KJV)
And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

The context indicates that the thing that some people have taken from them and given to others in more abundance is truth; the ability to discern the message found in the Word of God.
This would apply to individuals.
- Those who disbelieve or refuse to meditate on the Word or
- Those who call into question the message of the Bible
tend to understand it less and less over time. On the other hand, those who study, believe and practice the lessons they learn in the Bible tend to grow in their understanding of it.
This also applies to generations
History is filled with the ungodly deeds of those who misused the word of God. At the same time in history however we read of daring exploits of faith. As generations have come and gone we have discovered that those who didn’t rightly divide the Word of God have come to dismiss the Word altogether. The generation we now live in has had removed, in large measure, the understanding of The Bible. Even those of faith seem to possess a lesser understanding than generations previous. What once was had has been taken from us.

But there is coming a promised generation who will understand in abundance. Those in the Millennial Kingdom will know, understand and practice the truths in the Word of God to a level none have ever before.
Truth, like energy, is never really lost. It just passes from one place to another.
