Mark 2:25 (KJV)
And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?
And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?
That Jesus employed this account of David can be no accident. There are those who believe David was in the wrong on a number of fronts. They believe him to be lying to the High Priest, taking things that were not rightly his to have and even David said his actions occasioned the violence of Saul against the priests of this city.
Jesus did not fault David at all. Note:
David was anointed king but not yet king
Jesus was, at that moment, the anointed Messiah. King of Kings and Lord of Lord’s but humbled in this hour of His life.

David was in desperate need
Though he could not express the reasons why the needs were real. Jesus, the Creator of all, lived His years in this world in need. He hungered, thirsted; He grew weary in body and had occasion to flee as just as David did.

David’s actions prompted violence
Though it was unintentional, it did happen. Jesus death, burial and resurrection has occasioned the separation of family and friends. Untold numbers have been slain for their faith. It cannot be said that Jesus caused them to the same extent as David, but it is still true that his followers have been abused merely because they have met with Him.
