Mark 1:1 (KJV)
The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;

I like the word, beginning.

It happens that I read this passage the day after Easter, Resurrection Sunday, at our church. I had read Matthew 28, the resurrection of Jesus, in my regular daily visit with God the day before and written some thoughts about that passage. Then I went to church with my wife. We enjoyed an exceptional day in the Lord’s house. We were blessed with the news of souls saved at the Regional Correction Facility ministry. And we enjoyed a fine meal together with my son and his family.

I awoke on this morning to the sun shining. It was a beautiful spring day. Anita and I would be traveling to Spokane a bit later, where I have been asked to preach at a fellowship of pastors.

Indeed, this day seemed like a new beginning. Every day is

• a day of beginning 
• a day of hope 
• a day of promise 

It is because Jesus rose. It is because the Gospel I heard preached connected with my heart and soul and produced faith. It is because I called upon the living CHRIST and the Spirit of God assured my own spirit that I was born again.

Not every day is sunny. Not every day is peaceful and quiet and saturated with obvious blessings. But every day is a day of hope because Jesus is alive.
