2 Chronicles 30:1 (KJV) Hezekiah Held No Grudge

2 Chronicles 30:1 (KJV)
And Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, to keep the passover unto the LORD God of Israel.
What a powerful thought. As soon as the temple was restored, Hezekiah invited not only those of his kingdom of Judah but also the remnant of Jews left throughout Israel, to come to Jerusalem to observe the Passover.
It was during the reign of his father Ahaz that Israel had been destroyed by Assyria. There was no king in Israel at this time. There never would be again. But Hezekiah’s concern was not to mistreat them and scorn them but to do everything in his power to restore them to fellowship with God.
  • Some of them mocked his attempts
  • Some of them did take the Passover but not after sufficiently preparing
  • Some of them did become fully restored
Hezekiah held no grudge but sought the best for the people and the glory of God.
