2 Chronicles 32:1 (KJV)
After these things, and the establishment thereof, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to win them for himself.

This is almost shocking. It seemed like Judah and Israel were so on fire for God that He would have protected them from any enemies. That is until it is recalled that:
Assyria had already defeated and plundered IsraelHezekiah had merely offered those that remained a sanctuary back in Judah. He had rallied those that remained and they had been blessed in it.
Judah had a prize Assyria would certainly have wanted
With the gathering of those who remained in Jerusalem the goods received in the temple were stacked in heaps so much that new plans had to be made for storing it all. A man like Sennacherib could not pass up an opportunity for plunder such as this.

God often uses trouble to bring us to our knees
Hezekiah and Isaiah prayed together for deliverance. This combination at the throne of grace was a mighty one. And the answer soon came from heaven.

God intervened miraculously and cut off Sennacherib permanently
Trouble is no promise of defeat. Trust God through trouble. He does not fail.
