2 Corinthians 3:1 (KJV) No Further Proof Needed

2 Corinthians 3:1 (KJV)
Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
The issue of Paul’s apostleship, his calling, his authority had been questioned previously and answered in the first letter, Paul simply refers to the question in this letter by saying, “no further commendation or proof is needed.” They were themselves the evidence of the calling of God upon him.
I would suggest that this is still the only necessary credential of God on a ministry. It is the only one that means anything anyway.
  • If a man has papers saying he is something, but does not do the thing, the paper is useless.
  • If, on the other hand, a man does a thing successfully, any papers he has are merely perfunctory.
To my readers:
First of all, thank you! It is a great joy to me to know you read the thoughts and lessons God has given me in His word. Secondly, I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to leave comments.
