Proverbs 15:10-12 (KJV) A Way Of Correction

Proverbs 15:10-12 (KJV)
Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.
A person who has forsaken the way of the Lord:
  • Is grieved by
  • Hates
  • Avoids
correction. When one is away from God the reproofs of life are so contrary to their course that they cannot help but be hurt by those reproofs.
It occurred to me that there is another consideration in the text. When one is grieved by correction then that one has forsaken the way.
God’s way is a way of correction. His purpose is to mold us, to reshape is unto the image of Jesus Christ. If ever the child of God chooses to no longer submit to that molding process he has, at that moment, forsaken the way God planned for him to travel.
