Revelation 10:2 (KJV)
And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,
And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,
Revelation 10:8-11 (KJV)And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

The vision John had of future things continues as he is shown an angel with a little book. John takes the book and eats it. From there, John’s frame of reference returns to present earth. Only now he has a commission. He is to prophesy or preach what was in the little book to many people, nations, tongues and kings. The book is consistently referred to as the “little” book. Just what that means is as varied as the commentaries one reads. I think it is emblematic of our great commission, “Go ye into all the world…”[1]
Our message is sweet
Salvation by grace through faith and not of works! Praise the Lord! We do not earn it; we need only receive it.

Our message is bitter
Because, though so simple, it is most often refused.
Because, though so simple, it is most often refused.
Our message is portable
It can be carried easily to any part of the world.
It can be carried easily to any part of the world.
Our message is universal
It applies to every race of people regardless of stature.
It applies to every race of people regardless of stature.
Our message is but for a short time
Today is the day of salvation because we do not know that we have tomorrow.
Today is the day of salvation because we do not know that we have tomorrow.
Our message is not a burden
Unlike the Jewish Law, this frees the soul to worship, live, love and serve the Lord.

[1]Mark 16:15 (KJV)
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
