Revelation 13:2 (KJV) No Power, But of God

Revelation 13:2 (KJV)
And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

Revelation 13:7 (KJV)
And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

Albert Barnes writes, “Satan claimed, in the time of the Saviour, all power over the kingdoms of the world, and asserted that he could give them to whomsoever he pleased. See the notes on Matthew 4:8-9. How far the power of Satan in this respect may extend, it may not be possible to determine.”

No doubt the forces of Satan have power, but they could have none except that God the Father allows it. They have no power farther than God gives them. 

This world arrogantly believes itself to be powerful. It: 

• Claims power
• Exercises power and
• Gives away power

But it has no power, but of God. 

The world expects submission. It demands its subjects to bow before it. But it is the one who will ultimately bow before Jesus.
