Jeremiah 16:12-13 (KJV) Support Israel

Jeremiah 16:12-13 (KJV)
And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not hearken unto me.
Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that ye know not, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night; where I will not shew you favour.
There are those[1]who claim that America, and Christians in particular, should not support modern Israel. Perhaps it is passages like this that they would use. Israel is certainly not spiritually where God would have her to be or where God will have her to be in the future.
Does this mean that Christians should foresake Israel? I don’t believe so. Here is why.
We are taught to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and promised that those who love her will prosper.[2]Implied in that promise is that those who love her and pray for her would also actively support her.
Israel is not where God will have her to be but it is His place and not ours to bring her there.

[1]Like Steven Anderson and his followers.
[2]Psalms 122:6 (KJV)
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
