Jeremiah 44:27 (KJV)
Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.

We live in such an evil world that people simply assume things of a spiritual nature

• They assume they can love God without showing it
• They assume God will forgive them without their repentance 
• They assume they will go to heaven without ever living for heaven
• They assume God will watch over them and protect them though their every action is in opposition to the will and character of God. 

Not so. 

These Jews had flatly chosen to disregard the preacher’s message and disobey the will of God. God’s message to them was simple; He would watch over them, but not for good. How terrible it would be to have the God of all creation take a special interest in you, but not for good! 

God is a God of love. His plan for mankind is good – only good. But that plan necessarily includes the judgment of those who choose against Him. 

Purpose to obey the Lord. Purpose to be where the preacher is, to read carefully the Word of God and heed earnestly the message of God. 

I want God to watch over me for good, don’t you?
