John 11:9 (KJV)
Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.

The disciples, upon hearing that Jesus wished to see Lazarus, were concerned about the dangers. The Jews had lately sought to stone Jesus. A trip to Bethany might prove fatal. Jesus put the danger aside for the sake of the work. He viewed:
- Teaching the message He would teach
- Building the faith of those who would see and
- Glorifying His Father
As the work He would do. And that work was worth the risks, even if they proved fatal.
I am reminded of the Baptist preachers[1]who, having been run out of Massachusetts for their faith, returned to minister to an elderly person who could not make the trip to Rhode Island. They knew the risks of returning. They knew they were not to preach the Word of God in Massachusetts. But their work necessitated taking the risk. For the sake of the Gospel, to manifest the Word and to glorify God these 300 years later[2], they accepted the risks.
- To preach the Word
- To teach the truth
- To glorify God
This work is worth the price it costs to accomplish it.
[1]John Clarke, John Crandall and Obadiah Holmes. Holmes was subsequently whipped for conducting a Baptist service in Lynn, Massachusetts.
[2]I mean that they are still glorifying God by their actions even today.
