John 7:42-43 (KJV)
Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?
So there was a division among the people because of him.
Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?
So there was a division among the people because of him.
See in Luke 7:40-53 the precise reason why there is such division because of Jesus. People make assumptions concerning him that are simply false.
- Some of those assumptions are based in ignorance
- Some in stupidity and
- Some in pure malice
The one group did not know Jesus was from the seed of David or out of Bethlehem.
I suppose that information wasn’t as commonly known as it is today. None of the gospels after all had been written. Still, if Luke could find out this information, so could any who had cared to do so.

Our world is filled with people who just don’t know the truth about Jesus. They know some things, but they are incorrect things. The truth is available if they would but look.
Another group did not know that there were indeed rulers who had believed
Nicodemus, for one, had become a believer. He was with them every day and yet they did not know his faith in Christ. That could have been because Nicodemus hadn’t said anything. I think it was more because they refused to hear him. Ignorance is the lack of information. Stupidity is the inability to learn it.

So many in our world refuse to learn the truth of Christ. They have been presented with the gospel. They have heard the preaching of the Word. They simply refuse to accept it.
There is, in this world, an active effort to prevent people from believing Christ
The Pharisees had an evil intent to prevent souls from accepting Christ as Messiah.

The Devil has blinded the minds of many in our world so that they cannot see the truth concerning Christ.
Once again I say it, the truth about Christ is available to all who will but look.
