John 9:35-38 (KJV)
Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.

It seems to me that this man’s parents are the subtle key to the passage.
- They knew this was their son
- They knew he was born blind
- They could see that he could now see
But, for fear of being kicked out of the synagogue, they would not even support their son, let alone trust Christ.
I note that it was only after the man was cast out of the synagogue that Jesus revealed Himself to him and the man could come to saving faith. Our world is filled with idols, things we put before God.
- It might be a religion
- It might be family
- It might be a job or income
- It might be friendships
- It might be a way of life
These and other things can blind us so we cannot see that we cannot see God. We might have a form of religion, but we miss the power of God.
It is only when we come out of it that we are in a position to have a real saving faith and walk with God.
