2 Corinthians 12:11 (KJV)
I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.

There is so much humanity in this chapter it astounds me. There is so much here we would never wish our preachers to be. 

• There is uncertainty 
• There is weakness
• There is submission 
• There is prayer answered no
• There is sympathy (the more I love..,)
• There is irony
• There is fearfulness 
• There is humbling 

We like our preachers today to be leaders: strong, certain, victorious. Paul really was none of those. 

Now consider our primary text. Notice the dichotomy of the passage. Paul admitted coming behind the other apostles in nothing. He was not afraid to assert his position. In the same breath, Paul said that he was nothing. This is the great need of preachers today. We need to accept our calling with confidence while at the same time remembering we are, but vessels, empty of anything valuable except Christ.
