Leviticus 18:3 (KJV) Appropriate Response to Changing Culture

Leviticus 18:3 (KJV)
After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.

The follower of Christ is to be moved by neither the culture from which he came nor the culture in which he finds himself. He is to live and move according to the message he finds in the Word of God. 

• His language
• His mannerisms 
• His apparel 
• His habits 

They are each to be influenced not by those around him but by what he comes to understand from his walk with God and in His Word. 

This is where we have like faith and practice. As believers come to know the Lord, they gravitate towards those who understand Him and his Word similarly. Churches are built using people uniquely fitted to that church according to our understanding of God and the Bible. 

In many ways, we might say that the United States, so heavily influenced by the Word of God and a conviction that He is, created a “Christian culture” here. It wasn’t perfect, nothing involving fallen humanity is, but it was informed by God and His Word. That culture is fast dissolving as fewer of our leaders, or those who vote them into office, have a conviction concerning God’s presence or an understanding of His Word. 

The appropriate Christian response to this changing culture has never changed. We do according to what we see in God’s Word and we assemble with those who do likewise.
