2 Thessalonians 3:14-15 (KJV) Not An Enemy

2 Thessalonians 3:14-15 (KJV)
And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
The immediate context informs us that this disorderly conduct we are to mark and have no company with is not working and making our own way.
  • Paul behaved not disorderly
  • Paul labored for his own food and
  • Paul did this as an example
If any would not obey this message and follow this example the believers were commanded to have no company with him.
But notice that the believer was to be careful not to count him as an enemy. No doubt, the one who was marked thought he was being treated as an enemy. That doesn’t make it so.
No Christian should ever look at another Christian as an enemy. We may not have fellowship. We may have real reasons to disagree. But we have no reason to think of another Christian as an enemy.
