Hebrews 8:6 (KJV) Better Better Better

Hebrews 8:6 (KJV)

But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

I cannot help to look at this verse and think, “better, better, better.”

• Jesus has a more excellent ministry 
• Jesus is the mediator of a better covenant 
• The better covenant is established on better promises

The first covenant had faults. Though it had a purpose for a time, it was not perfect. The new covenant is not made according to the first. It is different in every way. It looks different, behaves differently and is founded on different premises. This new and better covenant applies to Israel as well as Gentiles, and the new covenant is one of the heart and soul, not the letter of the law. 

Let all understand. We are to put aside the first in favor of the second.
