Judges 11:13-15 (KJV)
And the king of the children of Ammon answered unto the messengers of Jephthah, Because Israel took away my land, when they came up out of Egypt, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and unto Jordan: now therefore restore those lands again peaceably.
And Jephthah sent messengers again unto the king of the children of Ammon:
And said unto him, Thus saith Jephthah, Israel took not away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon:

The reason why there is conflict in the Middle East, and the reason why negotiations have been unsuccessful, is because neither the contestants nor the negotiators understand the underlying problem. Even modern Israel is clueless as to why they fight.
The king of Ammon said the reason he came against Israel is that Israel took their land. Jephthah replied that they had not. He went on to remind them of the history of the land. How that Israel was willing to walk around that land, but the stubbornness of Ammon resulted in war and God gave Israel the victory.
The people of the Middle East fight over land but the battle is over the sovereignty of God in the affairs of man. It is a spiritual war between the prince of this world, Satan and the King of Kings, Jesus.
The land of Ammon isn’t even in the Promised Land. That reminds me that this spiritual battle involves much more than the Promised Land, much more than Israel and much more than the Palestinians. This battle over the sovereign reign of God is key to all we face:
- Nationally
- Family and
- Ecclesiastically
Every conflict in the home regardless of what we might believe is the problem, is at its heart a battle to let God rule.
Every trouble in a church no matter what people might claim is the problem, is at its root a battle whether Jesus is Lord.
If we would identify the real reason we fight, we might more readily come to a resolution.
