Judges 17:13 (KJV)
Then said Micah, Now know I that the LORD will do me good, seeing I have a Levite to my priest.

Religious people are prone to be superstitious people. We who are saved must be careful not to fall into the traps of religion and superstition. 

A pastor I listen to these days likes to remind people to “question the assumptions.” One of those so easily bought into is that God does good or bad based on a person’s own deeds of do. The fact is, God does us good because of Jesus. He has done us good in Jesus while we were yet sinners. 

When we place saving faith in Christ, we simply accept the good God did for us.
