John 1:15 (KJV) Jesus Christ is God

John 1:15 (KJV)
John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.

As far as I can tell Jesus came after John in two ways:

• He was born after John
• His ministry began after John’s

John was sent ahead as a sort of “advance man” preparing the way of the Lord. John was a witness of Him. He knew his role was to point others, not to himself, but to Christ. 

Though John could say in an earthly way that Jesus came after him, he also testified the divine truth that Jesus was before him. Jesus had no beginning. He is from everlasting. 

Our first witness, the thing we must make plain is that, no matter what other things may appear to be true, Jesus Christ is God.
