Romans 6:1-2 (KJV) God Forbid

Romans 6:1-2 (KJV)
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
God forbid.
The expression gives us the strongest impression. “No! By no means should a Christian continue in sin.”  Though, because of grace, we may believe we can continue to live in sin, we, that are dead to sin, must not “live any longer therein.”
Romans chapter six gives us a number of reasons why we must not.
Because of our identity with Christ
Through the act of baptism, we have voluntarily, freely entered into identification with His death, burial, and resurrection. To continue in sin is to smear the person of Jesus Christ, with whom we have identified.
We have already experienced a resurrection
We have died to sin and are therefore to live unto God. It’s a simple Bible truth. Therefore, we are to reckon ourselves dead indeed unto sin and alive unto God through Jesus Christ.
We are servants to the one we yield
If we yield to sin, we are servants of that sin. If we, on the other hand, yield to and obey God we are servants of righteousness.
There is a price for sin
The wages of sin is death. We typically think of that as eternal death, not being saved. There are other forms of death that the believer can experience. Someone said, “Sin always takes you farther than you want to go, keeps you longer than you want to stay and costs you more than you want to pay.”
Romans 6:15 (KJV)
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
