Psalms 48:9 (KJV)
We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.
We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.
When Moses came to Pharaoh, he asked that Israel be allowed to go three days journey from Egypt. I think that would have placed them into the Promised Land. They could not sacrifice to their God; they could not worship their God in Egypt. God had given them a place and it was in that place they could think of His lovingkindness.
Years passed.
In the time of the Psalmist, they had conquered Zion and established that it would be the place of the temple. It was in that temple the people of Israel were to worship, to think of the lovingkindness of God.

Years have passed since then.
The temple has given way to the New Testament church. Since the death of Christ, the veil of the temple was rent to two. With the resurrection of Christ, a new standard for worship was established. It is a local, assembled congregation of believers united in common faith and baptism. It is there the New Testament believer is to worship God and remember His lovingkindness.

Mr. Governor, let us go that we may assemble once again. God has taught us we must do so.
It is essential that we do so.
