Jeremiah 32:23 (KJV)
And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them:
What an unbelievably stern verse. One would be tempted to call it an exaggeration, except it is the inspired Word of God. Israel, since the day they had entered the Promised Land, had done nothing God commanded them to do.
I am sure they would have argued the point.
- What about under King David?
- What about the revivals under good kings Hezekiah and Josiah?
- What about those times when the blessings of God were evident in the land?
I am reminded of, James 2:10 (KJV)
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Here is a truth that applies to all, Jews and Gentiles. If we were able to obey everything God said, except for one offense, even one time, we are accountable as if we had disobeyed everything.
This is why the grace of God in Jesus Christ is such a treasure. Jesus was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.[1] He obeyed everything the Father commanded without exception. He is perfectly, wholly and completely righteous and, the Bible says,
2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

[1] Hebrews 4:15 (KJV)
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
