But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
There are I think two reasons why the Jews, the children of Israel, have been so hated.
They have been hated because they are God’s people
Satan hates all of humanity because we are created in the image of God and he hates God. The Jews have been particularly hated because they are that chosen race by which God gave the world Jesus. Those who hate God hate Jews.
They have also been hated because of their participation in the crucifixion of Jesus
Misguided and likely false professing Christians, Catholic and Protestant, took ought against the Jews as the enemies of Christ. This is such an obvious misunderstanding of Scriptures as even Christ, as He was dying, prayed that they would be forgiven.
The fact remains, the Jews have been the target of hatred for just about as long as we have a record.
God pronounced that it would be so. I do not believe that the curse of Deuteronomy is so much that God brings this upon them as it is this is the consequence of turning from God. A people belonging to God but far from him are helpless prey to Satan and to those under his influence.
Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
Offenses happen in this corrupt world. When we turn aside from the blessings of God, we may expect those offenses to be more frequent, more intense, and less merciful. Away from God, we are “easy pickin’s” for the devil and his own.
But woe to the one by whom it comes.
What happened to the Jews, in WWII for instance, can be explained by the fact that they are the children of God and by the German’s misguided Protestant hatred of them for Christ’s execution. That it can be explained in no way implicates God nor does it excuse the Germans who perpetrated this atrocity.
