And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.
“Set your hearts unto all the words.”
Affection for God is directly tied to our affection for His Words. It is key in the Christian life therefore to
- Learn
- Memorize
- Read and
- Meditate
upon all the words we find in God’s Word.
The atheist, the agnostic, the antagonist will attack the Bible as aggressively as they possibly can. The cultist, the heretic, the apostate will twist misquote, rewrite, and wrest out of context God’s Word.
The Christian must therefore never assume that a close relationship with the Lord may be maintained without a love for the Word of God. Such love will lead to lingering in thought upon it, being drawn to it, a recall of it, and an intense passion to defend it.
Loving God begins with His love for us. It is stirred by our love for His Words to us.
