Joshua 7:8 (KJV) Get Up!

Joshua 7:8 (KJV)

O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies!

It’s a pathetic little cry Joshua makes before the Lord. What are people going to say?

  • What will the enemy say?
  • What will the children of Israel say?
  • What am I going to say?

When word gets out that we failed to win Ai?

God’s answer was, shall I say, blunt.

Joshua 7:10 (KJV)
And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?

Joshua was in prayer but apparently, it was more like a pity party than a cry for help. God wasn’t interested in soothing his poor conscience. God was interested in correcting the trouble that caused the failure.

Here we learn the priorities of the Lord.

  • He is not as concerned about our reputation as He is what is right.
  • He is not as concerned about our comfort as He is what is right.
  • He is not as concerned about our successes as He is what is right.

In the end, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of the Father.

In the end, His children will be comforted and victorious.

Today, right now, the goal is different. Right now, the goal is conformity to Christ.
