But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.
The preterist takes this passage to have been fulfilled at the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Others take it to have been fulfilled at the resurrection of Christ or at the day of Pentecost. I am rather convinced that the second coming of Christ is such a fundamental, basic doctrine of the Bible that this passage must not be denied it’s prophetic element in connection with Jesus second coming.
I am reminded that, to this very day, the people of Israel flee from town-to-town world around. There is hardly a place in the world where they do not dwell. There is hardly a place in the world where they do not suffer to some people extent, and there is hardly a place in the world where Christians have not followed, sometimes suffering alongside of them, frequently anxious to help them, and always interested in bringing Christ both to the Jew and also to the Gentile.
This will be, according to the Word of God, the pattern of things until Jesus comes again.
