Matthew 10:40-42 (KJV) Rewards

Matthew 10:40-42 (KJV)

He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.\
And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

There is no reason whatsoever for any believer to enter into heaven without rewards.

Sometimes a Christian can feel insignificant in the face of some who have done amazing things in the name of the Lord. That sense can, from time to time, be motivation for us to draw closer to the Lord and obey Him in ways we have not. It can also cause us to lose our confidence in Christ’s leading in our own walk. Such a loss is a negative and not healthy for us.

Jesus teaches clearly how a believer who may feel insignificant can receive the most significant rewards.

  • Receive Christ and receive God the Father
  • Receive a prophet and receive his reward
  • Receive a righteous man and receive his reward

Just give a drink, a piece of encouragement to the little ones in Jesus’s name, and Jesus said you will in no wise lose your reward.

Any Christian may receive the greatest of heavenly prizes. The word receive has to do with accepting and embracing. Take hold of the message they[1] offer. Take heed to the message they preach. Take as your own the gospel they deliver.

From the greatest of them, to the least known of them, receive them, and you will certainly have rewards in glory.
