1 Kings 1:5 (KJV) When the Devil Tries to Make Himself King

1 Kings 1:5 (KJV)

Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.

Of course, no picture in the Bible is perfect. But Adonijah seems like a pretty good type of Lucifer.
Isaiah 14:12-13 (KJV)
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

Adonijah exalted himself
To make himself king.

Adonijah gathered a following
Of people who appeared to be close to King David.

Adonijah acted religious
With lots of sacrifices and religious rituals.

Adonijah’s plan was foiled
Because the king had already determined Solomon should be anointed.

Adonijah submitted
But it was only for a season. He made a second attempt to gain the throne.

Adonijah was finally defeated
And perished from this earth.

This account is step by step the same as will happen with Satan.

Though he has declared himself prince of this world, God has already determined Christ must be king. As Solomon rode upon the King’s mule, so Christ rode upon the foal of an ass into Jerusalem. One day He will ride out of heaven on a white horse. Just as Adonijah seemingly submitted, Satan will be bound but it will be only for a season. He will return at the end of the one-thousand-year reign and gather an army against Christ. Satan has many followers today. Some of them appear to be faithful to Christ but they are fooled. He puts on a fair show of religion, but it is just a show. Finally, when God’s plan is completed Satan, and all those who followed him, will be thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone for ever and ever.
