This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
Notice the progression of people at the wedding
There was a crowd
We do not know how many, but it was substantial. The crowd knew Jesus was there. They enjoyed the water He turned to wine. But they did not come under any spiritual influence because of Him.
There were His disciples
These were those following Him. They had left everything to learn what Jesus, this teacher, could offer. They were learners but not yet fully leaning upon Him.
The disciples there believed on Him
This, I believe, is in contrast to those “many” in verse twenty-three who believed in Him. It is one thing to know who Jesus is and to believe it. It is something entirely different to believe on Him and trust Him as Saviour and Lord.
