Esther 5:11 (KJV) A Social Skill

Esther 5:11 (KJV)

And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.

This was a different culture than our own, but I don’t think people have changed all that much. I cannot imagine that Haman’s “friends,” or, for that matter, his wife enjoyed listening to the man brag about his wealth, his blessings, and his promotions.

I say this somewhat tongue in cheek, but I wonder if those friends may secretly have wished Haman would hang on the gallows they advised him to build?

It’s a social skill. Gracious, thoughtful people don’t puff themselves like a peacock in front of their friends.

  • True friends don’t need it
  • Fake ones won’t appreciate it

Humility is always a better attitude to present before others.
